Adobe Animator Bible Story Instructions

Creating a Bible Story with animated version of Pastor Steve

1. Open the file Pastor Steve.puppet

Contact Pastor Steve for this resource

2. Start a New Scene

Drag the puppet Pastor Steve down to the area that says “Drop puppets to create a scene

3. Import the Audio File

I use audacity to create a recording of me reading the Bible Story. I save this file as an mp3.

Click File -> Import, and choose your mp3 file to import it.

4. Drag the mp3 audio file to the canvas.

Simply deaf the mp3 file from your project panel onto the canvas to the right where you see the puppet. Once you do this, you should see the audio file show up in your timeline at the bottom of the software panel.

5. Create Lip Sync

a. Select your Puppet Character (Pastor Steve) in the timeline

b. Disable all of the puppet track behaviors. (hold the Command Key and click any red dot to turn all the behaviors off)

c. Enable the “Lip Sync” behavior

d. From the Menu, choose Timeline -> Compute Lip Sync from Scene Audio

5. Create Head & Eyebrow Movement

a. Select your Puppet Character (Pastor Steve) in the timeline

b. Disable all of the puppet track behaviors except for Face.

c. Hit the record button and the puppet will match your head movements (tilting back and forth) and eyebrow movements.

6. Create Mouth, Pointer Finger & Blinking

a. Select your Puppet Character (Pastor Steve) in the timeline

b. Disable all of the puppet track behaviors except for Triggers.

c. Disable the camera icon (top right panel)

c. Hit the record button and use the following number keys

  • (1) Toggles Pointer Finger or full hand
  • (5) Eye Blink
  • (9) Toggles happy mouth or frown mouth
7. Create Eye Gaze

a. Select your Puppet Character (Pastor Steve) in the timeline

b. Disable all of the puppet track behaviors except for Eye Gaze.

c. Under Eye Gaze options, disable camera input and choose keyboard input

d. Hit the record button and use the arrow keys to control the direction of the pupils.

8. Create Left & Right Arm Movements

a. Select your Puppet Character (Pastor Steve) in the timeline

b. Disable all of the puppet track behaviors except for Dragger.

c. Hit the record button.

d. Click and hold (with your mouse) on the left hand and perform left arm movements that match the story.

e. After the left arm recording, repeat for the right arm movements with another recording.

9. Review the Video

Watch the video one final time and verify everything looks good. Reshoot any section that needs adjustments.

10. Export the Video

a. Choose File -> Export -> Video with Alpha via Adobe Media Encoder
